Swap Workshop - My new fav website

I just wanted to tell you about an amazing community that I was invited to join recently. Swap Workshop are a friendly, intimate community who create lovely, handmade items and then swap them for something gorgeous from other members. It works on a simple point system.

This is how it works:
  • Create your Swap Workshop account
  • List your item (handmade, vintage or craft supply) on the swap board
  • Allocate a number of points to your item based on the £/EUR/$ value.
  • Wait for another member to request your item
  • Send the item to the other member
  • When delivery has been succesful you'll be given your points to spend (equal to the points value of the swap item you just sent)
That's just a brief decription but their How To page will give you more detail.

The only condition of membership is that you have a web presence for your craft, i.e. Folksy, Etsy or your own website. This is to ensure that you are a genuine swapper.

I really recommend this site. I've sent 4 rings so far and received a beautiful pair of OOAK earrings that I absolutely adore.

If you do join then please mention that Adore y la Muerto invited you.

Hope to see you there :)

The Aliens Have Landed

It's a been a busy couple of weeks since I returned from the peaceful haven of the New Forest. I've had lots and lots of orders for the skellies but I've also been working on some aliens. They're ready for sale, so this week will be spent listing them and making some other colours.

I also had a stall at St Nicholas Church Laindon's fun day last weekend. The stall was really for my other business, Ciao Bambino Silver Jewellery, but I put a few skellies out on the table to see what happened. They got some nice comments but sadly no sales. I don't think the 60 plus church-going folk are really my target market. However, the silver sold well and the sun was shining so it was a good day.

Back to the aliens. They're avaible in my Folksy outlet right now...

The earrings are getting there...

Today I've been working on some prototype earrings to compliment the rings. It's been raining here today (the kids are on holiday, what do you expect?) so it was nice to have an excuse to stay in and drink tea.

The earrings need a little work, they're still a bit messy. The fixings aren't as neat as they could be and I still can't successfully put a hole in the skelly top to bottom without it looking untidy...but I'll get there!

Lemon Cookies and Orange Skellies

Today I've mostly been eating lemon cookies and drinking tea. I've also been playing with some different colour ways for the skelly bonies. My favourite so far has to be this orange one. It hasn't had it's shiny coat yet, so it looks a little bit dull, but I think it'll be as splendid as the others.

I've also been trying to source some gift boxes without much luck. Finally settled on some sexy black organza pouches until I can find some lovely boxes to present the rings in. My search continues...

Anyway, there are two lemon biccies left in the box. They keep looking at me...Better eat the little buggers before they eat me :)

Ta ta.

Sugar Skull Rings

I've been meaning to create a blog for the "skelly bonies" for bloomin' ages, but I've had so many orders and just haven't had the time. But now I'm hoping I'll be able to keep up with my social commentary and give you an insight into the world of Adore y la Muerto.

Adore y la Muerto sugar skulls are hand sculpted from polymer clay, painted and varnished to give them a nice shiny finish.

Each one is made to order so no two rings are the same. They can be painted in any colour scheme you like. I had one lovely customer last week who ordered 5 different colours, one to match each of her going out outfits. That girl knows how to accessorise!

I'm hoping to create a website over the next few weeks to showcase the designs, but in the meantime they're available on misi.co.uk and soon they'll be on Etsy too.

So that's it for now. I need to pop some more skellies in the oven. Then it's some painting in front of the telly and chomping on some M&S whoopie pies....yum yum!

Bye Lovelies!
Anna
